Fresno County Fire truck responding to a call involved in crash with truck, CHP says

A Fresno County Fire engine was involved in a crash with a Ford Bronco on Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened just before noon at American and Maple avenues.

Crews responded to a grass fire near the area and had its lights and sirens on. The fire truck entered Maple and crashed into the vehicle.

The collision caused the fire truck to roll over.

Two firefighters had minor injuries and the driver in the Ford had moderate injuries.

"We're incredibly grateful that no serious injuries occurred in a crash involving a Fresno County fire engine on American Ave at Maple Ave.," CHP spokesperson Mike Salas wrote. "Incidents like this are an important reminder of how crucial awareness is especially at intersections.

"Whether you're behind the wheel, on a bike, or walking, stay alert. Always check your surroundings and never assume others will stop. Take the extra second to look both ways. And remember: being able to hear sirens from emergency vehicles can save lives, including your own. Keep the volume down, avoid distractions."
