Regal looks, bold statements as men shine at Ojude Oba

From vibrant aso-oke to intricately beaded accessories, the festival provided ample opportunities for stylish men to showcase culture in an elegant manner. FAITH AJAYI takes a look at some of the men that turned heads at the event
Dapo Abiodun
The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, delivered one of the standout looks of the day. He donned a nude-coloured agbada (flowing robe) adorned with intricate embroidery around the neckline and front, complemented by soft wool detailing at the edges. Underneath, he wore a brown ankara cap that matched the tones of his outfit perfectly. Completing the regal ensemble, he accessorised with brown-tinted glasses, layered neck and wrist beads, and a black walking stick crested in gold. His radiant appearance was a perfect match for the grandeur of the occasion.
Farooq Oreagba
Popularly known as the “King of Steeze” after his viral appearance at the 2024 edition of the festival, Farooq Oreagba returned this year and once again lived up to the hype. Though he wore two outfits during the event, it was the green and yellow embroidered agbada and cap that truly captivated the crowd.
He wore a green short-sleeved “awotele” and trouser with yellow patterns, paired with a matching cap. Elevating the look were gold stud earrings, dark sunglasses, red neck beads, and a coordinating walking stick. During the horse-riding procession, he added black gloves, intertwined ropes draped across his shoulders and waist, and held a horse whip with a cigar tucked between his lips. His visible arm tattoos added an edge to the overall aesthetic.
Lateef Adedimeji
Popular actor Lateef Adedimeji made a bold fashion statement as part of the delegation of a real estate company. His look was reminiscent of that of a Yoruba oracle or chief priest, wearing a brown woolly top and a layered wool overlay. His cap, draped dramatically over one shoulder, was decorated with three-tiered rows of golden cowries, giving it a soft, cascading effect.
Keeping his accessories minimal, he wore long red and gold beads on his wrists and neck, and carried a beautifully carved wooden staff that resembled the kind wielded by traditional priests. His look was undeniably one of the most striking of the day.
Lil Kesh
Singer, Lil Kesh also made an appearance, participating in horse-riding and representing the Iboriaran Moyegeso family. His outfit blended traditional and contemporary influences. He wore a striped agbada in shades of yellow, blue, and white; paired with a matching cap, gold chain, black sunglasses, and gold bracelets. Like others in the riding contest, he sported intertwined ropes across his shoulders and waist, adding to the ceremonial flair. His look was clean, bold, and head-turning.
Akin Faminu
A fashion influencer, Akin Faminu, brought his signature flair to the festival with a distinctive navy-blue agbada that stood out in the crowd. A bold, detachable neck accessory gave his outfit an avant-garde touch, while his wrists were adorned with black and gold jewellery. He completed the ensemble with a carved wooden walking stick.
Adegboyega Adesoye
The Otunba Gbaderogun of Ijebuland, Otunba Adegboyega Adesoye, proved that a simple outfit can be transformed into something iconic with the right additions. He wore a modest white agbada paired with a gold cap and neck beads. However, it was his concept of layering a black and gold cape and carrying a shekere (percussion instrument) that set his look apart.
