Mark Twain said “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.” Today’s Cadillac Lyriq crossover SUV recall for blank display screens may give some auto enthusiasts Déjà vu. But even though it’s similar to the recent recall of 30,000 Lincoln Nautilus crossover SUVs for blank display screens, the two probably aren’t connected. Here are the models and years affected. 2024 Lincoln Nautilus SUVs 2023-24 Cadillac Lyriq SUVs The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus recalled for blank screens On June 3rd, Ford Motor Company announced a huge recall. It admitted there might be a problem with up to 30,600 Lincoln Nautilus SUVs causing their panoramic and center display screens to go suddenly blank. Obviously, this is an issue that warrants an official NHTSA recall. For one, the problem would prevent your legally-required backup camera from working. But when the full panoramic display goes down, yo can’t see your speedometer or warnings such as a chec...

Two Decades Ago, Jeep Made An SUV So Disliked That Even Chrysler's CEO Once Called It 'Unfit For Human Consumption'

Gambar
The Jeep of today has three models that seat seven people and one model that seats eight . But, historically, that hasn’t always been the case. If you were a Jeep buyer in the 2000s and you wanted something for your sizable family, you had just one choice with Jeep’s first three-row SUV, the Commander. This SUV had so much going for it, from Jeep’s iconic boxy styling to a healthy set of equipment. Yet, somehow, Jeep failed so hard that Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne allegedly minced no words when he said that it was ‘unfit for human consumption.’ Here’s how the Commander failed to take authority of the family SUV market. The SUV and crossover spent much of the late 1990s and the 2000s planting their stakes in the ground as America’s new favorite family car. In decades past, if you had a huge family, you got a full-size van or a wagon. Then, Chrysler’s iconic minivan changed the game, and suddenly, doors slid open, children piled in, and America had a new obsession. ...

You Can Thank Ford And GM For Hemi’s Return

The 5.7-liter Hemi V8 returns in the 2026 Ram 1500. This was 18 months in the making, but a worthwhile move. Ram was concerned about losing V8 fans to Ford and GM. When Ram introduced the facelifted 1500 in the fall of 2023, the reaction was swift. While many praised the updated truck, fans were upset to see that the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 was no longer an option. As Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis explained at a media briefing earlier this week, people hated that the brand took away their power of choice. While the twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six offers better performance, people don’t like being told no and forced into getting something they may not particularly want. Full-size truck owners are intensely loyal to their brand, and once you lose them, “good luck g...
