FG orders probe of alleged neglect of accident victims at FMC Abuja

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako has directed a full investigation into the alleged neglect of accident victims at the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Jabi, Abuja. In a video that trended on social media at the weekend, someone was heard lamenting that he rushed some accidents victims he saw at the road to the facility but that the staff were slow in attending to them. The video showed arguments between the good Samaritan and some staff of the hospital one of whom talked about the unavailability of gloves. Lagos issues urgent warning over flash floods, heavy rainfall

The Lagos State Government has issued a strong advisory to residents to remain on high alert as forecasts indicate the likelihood of intense rainfall and flash floods across several parts of the state in the coming days. In a statement signed by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab , the government explained that recent geostationary imagery from its weather monitoring stations showed a disturbing build-up of thunderstorms and widespread convective rainfall, accompanied by thick cloud cover. This development, he said, signaled a high probability of heavy downpours and sudden flooding in various communities. The warning is particularly directed at residents living in low-lying areas and communities close to rivers and lagoons, where the risk of flash floods and strong water currents is significantly heightened. BECE candidates involved in accident, eight sustain injury

The accident, occurred in the early hours of Friday, June 13, when the candidates were travelling from Odumase-Basari Akura to the Kechiebi examination centre in the Nkwanta South Municipality, to sit for their exams, when the overloaded tricycle reportedly hit drove into a pothole and veered off the road, and crashed. The impact caused serious injuries to all passengers. Seven of the candidates were taken to the Kechiebi CHPS compound for treatment, while one female candidate, identified as Manyina Janet, critically injured, was referred to the Nkwanta South Municipal Government Hospital for further medical care. Expect rains in FCT from Sunday to Tuesday, FEMD alerts

The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) has issued an alert on expected rainfall in parts of the territory and its neighbouring states from Sunday to Tuesday. The acting Director-General of the department, Mr Abdulrahman Mohammed, who gave the alert in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, appealed to the residents to avoid driving into pools of water. Mohammed further advised residents to always wait for the water levels to recede before driving during downpours. He also appealed to them to take adequate precautions by switching off all electrical appliances during the rain. The FEMD boss encouraged the residents to always use the 112 emergency toll free number in the event of an emergency. Five die, 13 injured from electrocution in Gombe

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Saturday, as five people were electrocuted to death while thirteen others were injured. The electrocution in Gombe followed a high voltage of electricity supply which led to damage to electrical appliances and shocking of metal substances around houses. The Gombe State Police Command which stated that electrocution incident happened in the Tudun-Wadan Pantami area of Gombe Metropolis. According to the Command PPRO, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the development resulted from a high-voltage surge from a nearby electricity transformer. Poor response to emergency cases and medical negligence have continued to bedevil the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, investigations have shown. Findings reveal that while the hospital has recorded achievements in infrastructural expansion and adoption of new medical procedures, it has however faced persistent cases of patients and their caregivers lamenting medical negligence and slow response to people in need of emergency services. Some residents have lamented being turned away at the emergency unit of the hospital when their relatives were in dire need of care to save their lives. They alleged that the delay or no response at all has sometimes led to loss of lives as well worsened health outcomes for those affected. Fresno County Fire truck responding to a call involved in crash with truck, CHP says

A Fresno County Fire engine was involved in a crash with a Ford Bronco on Thursday afternoon. The crash happened just before noon at American and Maple avenues. Crews responded to a grass fire near the area and had its lights and sirens on. The fire truck entered Maple and crashed into the vehicle. The collision caused the fire truck to roll over. Two firefighters had minor injuries and the driver in the Ford had moderate injuries. "We're incredibly grateful that no serious injuries occurred in a crash involving a Fresno County fire engine on American Ave at Maple Ave.," CHP spokesperson Mike Salas wrote. MAKKAH, – Jemaah haji Indonesia diprediksi akan menghadapi tantangan cuaca ekstrem saat menjalani puncak ibadah haji di Arafah, Muzdalifah, dan Mina (Armuzna). Kementerian Agama sebelumnya mengatakan suhu udara di Arab Saudi saat puncak haji 2025 bisa menembus 50 derajat Celsius.
