Indiana Fever acting head coach breaks silence on Stephanie White's abrupt absence

Gambar
Indiana Fever first assistant Austin Kelly addressed Stephanie White's absence before Saturday's game against the Chicago Sky , as he stepped up as acting head coach. The Fever were already without Caitlin Clark for Saturday's game, after she suffered a quadriceps injury against the New York Liberty on May 24. However, coach White missed Friday's practice due to personal reasons , and it was confirmed Saturday morning that she would also sit out of the primetime game against Chicago. As a result, first assistant Kelly assumed her role, with assistants Karima Christmas-Kelly and Briann January also stepping up elsewhere. Ahead of tip-off, Kelly gave an update regarding White's situation and when she may return to her head coaching duties. Dawn Staley Sends Clear Message on Indiana fever, Chicago Sky Rivalry

Gambar
The Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever have been pushed into WNBA prominence ever since the 2024 WNBA Draft. This netted the franchises Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, respectively, both of whom were All-Stars during their rookie seasons. Reese broke a league record with 13.1 rebounds per contest in 2024, and Clark led the WNBA in assists as a rookie with 8.4 per game. Both landed on the All-Rookie team as well, with Clark earning the 2024 Rookie of the Year award and First-Team All-WNBA honors. Indiana won three out of the four matchups that took place between the two teams last season, and they also won on opening day of the 2025 season by a score of 93 to 58. On Saturday, the second game of the season between the Fever and the Sky took place at the United Center in Chicago. South Carolina women's basketball head coach and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame player Dawn Staley joined the pregame show to talk about the matchup. Staley weighed in on whether or not the Sky and...

Angel Reese’s Blunt Response to Chicago Sky’s Struggles in Second WNBA Season

Gambar
The Chicago Sky has had a rough start to this season, currently fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 2-4 start in the 2025 WNBA season. Prior to this season, the team brought back veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot and added Ariel Atkins via free agency, who played for the Washington Mystics from 2018 to 2024. Second-year Kamilla Cardoso and rookie Hailey Van Lith have also shown some promise throughout this season. Meanwhile, star player Angel Reese continues to dominate the court, averaging a double-double and becoming the fastest WNBA player to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds. Despite early struggles under their new head coach, Tyler Marsh, many fans believe that the Sky could still find their footing as the season progresses. Reese recently spoke at a press conference that took place right before her team plays against the Indiana Fever on Saturday. One of the journalists asked the LSU alum about the impact the vets have had on her and the rookies this sea...

WNBA Team Rankings: Liberty, Lynx move the ball better than anyone

It's the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty, and then everyone else in the WNBA . They've enjoyed historically dominant starts to the 2025 campaign and seem destined for a Finals rematch. Chief among the reasons for their tremendous success so far this season has been unselfishness, and the numbers bear that out. If the Lynx and Liberty have taught us anything, it's that sharing is caring. Nothing moves faster than the basketball itself, and they've taken that mantra to heart, ranking first and second in assists per game, respectively. Uncoincidentally, Minnesota and New York sit atop the standings as the last two undefeated teams standing. Minnesota and New York have shown a willingness to make the extra pass and sacrifice individual counting stats for the sake of the greater good. But which clubs come after them in the nightly dimes department, and has this formula translated to winning for the rest of the W? WNBA Team Assist Ranking...

Angel Reese Makes Announcement Before Fever-Sky Rematch

Gambar
Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky have been off to a rough start in the 2025 WNBA season, beginning with four straight losses and finally picking up two wins, albeit against the Dallas Wings, who have been the worst team in the league. Reese herself has had her struggles, too, as she has seen a dip in scoring, down to 10.0 points per game, while her shooting has dropped to 31.1% from the field. As a rookie, she shot 39.1% and averaged 13.6 points. Reese's turnover numbers have also jumped to 3.8 per game, from 2.2 last year. But Reese continues to make moves off the floor, and is getting closer to a major new accomplishment--the release of her own shoe. On Saturday, before the Sky played the Fever at in Chicago--at the United Center, no less--Reese stopped by the new CBS Sports pregame show. When one of the analysts, legendary coach Dawn Staley, suggested that Reese keep track of wins and losses in her signature shoe, Reese said, "I think we're gonna win tonigh...

Chicago Sky Facing Accusation Over Caitlin Clark Mistake Before Indiana Fever Game

Gambar
The Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky are facing off at United Center on Saturday night in a rematch of their season-opening battle. Indiana took that game in decisive fashion, winning 93-58 behind Caitlin Clark's triple-double. Clark is averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists in her second WNBA season, but has missed the last three games with a quad injury. Sidelined again on Saturday, Clark will not play in the rematch against Angel Reese and the Sky, but is in attendance with her teammates. Ahead of this game, the United Center jumbotron displayed an injury report that had Clark's first name misspelled. WNBA fans were quick to jump all over the error, with many accusing the Sky of doing this on purpose. "How does this keep happening," asked one. "Trash organization...plus I see alot of empty seats," said another. "I am pretty sure nobody believes this was in accident," one fan accused. "There is no...

Angel Reese Reveals One Desire Before Indiana Fever Game

Gambar
The Chicago Sky earned a 2-4 record through the first month of the 2025 WNBA season, placing them in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. A 93 to 58 loss to the Indiana Fever on opening day kickstarted a four-game losing streak to begin the season, but the Sky responded with two straight wins against the Dallas Wings last week. After giving up 90 points or more in five consecutive games to begin the year, they held on for a 94 to 83 win last Saturday. Now, the Sky will kick off their slate of Commissioner's Cup games by hosting the 3-4 Fever on Saturday evening. 2024 WNBA All-Star Angel Reese is averaging a double-double once again this season for the Sky with 10.0-point and 12.3-rebound per game averages. Her rebounds per game are leading the WNBA once again. The Sky's rematch against the Fever has a bit of a twist, however. Wings Make Major Paige Bueckers Injury Announcement on Saturday

Gambar
The Dallas Wings have not had a great start to the 2025 campaign, as they have crawled out to a 1-8 record through their first nine games. Of course, it hasn’t helped that they have been without star rookie guard Paige Bueckers for the past three games, but the team shared some big news regarding her impending return to the court. Bueckers was placed in the WNBA concussion protocol after the Wings loss to the Chicago Sky on May 29, and she hasn’t taken the court since then. However, it looks like she could make a return to action when Dallas takes on the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, June 8, but it doesn’t look like she is fully out of the woods just yet. Wings Share Big Paige Bueckers Injury News After a standout collegiate career with the UConn Huskies, Bueckers entered the 2025 WNBA draft as the clear-cut No. 1 overall pick. The Wings ended up being the lucky team to land this pick, and sure enough, they used the selection on Bueckers with the hopes that she could hel...

Becky Hammon Blasts Las Vegas Aces Effort After Blowout Loss to Valkyries

Gambar
The Las Vegas Aces fell to 4-3 on the 2025 WNBA regular season after a brutal 95-68 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on June 7. There's no question that the Aces boast a much more talented roster on paper when compared to the Valkyries. Las Vegas has four players who played on the Team USA 2024 Paris Olympics squad, while the Valkyries have no discernible superstars and might not have a single representative in the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game. However, that didn't keep the Valkyries from thoroughly outplaying the Aces on Saturday, as they looked like the more energized team that wanted the win much more than the 2022 and 2023 WNBA champions. Las Vegas head coach Becky Hammon was visibly frustrated with her team throughout the game. And she delivered a blunt assessment of her squad's heart when speaking with the media afterwards. ESPN's Kendra Andrews made an X post that read, "Hammon says her team has a 'heart issue' that lacked...
