IGP reviews security arrangements ahead of Muharram

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar chaired an important meeting regarding Muharram foolproof security arrangements and other professional matters at the Central Police Office. Senior officers including Additional IGs and DIGs were present in the meeting, while Additional IG South Punjab, CCPO Lahore, RPOs, CPOs and DPOs participated in the meeting through video link. IG Punjab commended the force for the excellent security arrangements on Eid-ul-Adha and directed to ensure foolproof security arrangements during Muharram. IG Punjab directed the officers to work and ensure smooth consultation with district administration, peace committees, community leaders and stakeholders to make Muharram peaceful. He directed to resolve all trouble points and disputes regarding Muharram-ul-Haram in advance through mutual understanding. IG Punjab appreciated the action of district officers and CCD for the clear reduction in crime rate in various districts including Lahore. He congratulated the CCD for the arrest of more than 100 category-A criminals in the Multan region. IG Punjab directed the district officers to task the CCD to arrest the declared criminals involved in heinous crimes. Special focus should be given to cases of rape and kidnapping of women and children. IG Punjab also ordered to further expedite intelligence-based operations against Kacha criminals. IG Punjab directed the district officers to submit challans of heinous cases to the courts in a timely manner.

IG Punjab congratulated the officers for the improvement in traffic management in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Gujranwala and DG Khan and said that measures should be taken in coordination with all institutions including the district administration and transport to prevent traffic accidents. He directed that completion of 100 targets given by Chief Minister of Punjab for improving the traffic should be further accelerated. Entry of three-wheelers, rickshaws and donkey carts should be banned on main highways. Buses and wagons should be allowed to enter the main roads. Strict action should be taken against passengers sitting on roofs and overloaded goods transport.
