Video shows frantic moments when Forest Park shooting sent people running at nearby soccer field

A terrifying moment unfolded Tuesday night when gunfire broke out near a stadium and not far from a soccer field in Forest Park. Two people were injured.
The moments after the gunshots were fired were captured on video. People could be heard screaming as they ran for safety.
Forest Park Chief of Police Brandon Criss said the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 600 block of South Avenue. This is near Park Avenue. On one side of the road sits Kiwanis Stadium, where Criss said a high school graduation was taking place. And on the other side of the street is a field where a mom said children were playing soccer.
In the video she shared with 11Alive, she said she was watching her child play soccer when, all of a sudden, gunshots were heard nearby. Parents rushed to the field to grab their children.
One witness at the scene described what he heard near the soccer field.
"I saw a couple of kids walking by my truck and they hear shooting and of course I got down inside my truck," he said. "As soon as I stopped hearing the shots I jumped out my truck and run toward my kid to make sure they were OK," he said.

"This incident happened near our Kiwanis Stadium," Criss said. "There was a celebration of a graduation on on here at this location. And unfortunately, that celebration turned tragic with two victims being shot," he said at the scene.
Criss said officers found one person who had been grazed and another person who had been shot in the arm; both were taken to the hospital.
As for the graduation happening at the stadium, Criss said the school was not local in the City of Forest Park.
"So, they rented out this space here to put on that graduation," he said.
Police were looking for two suspects in connection with the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at (404) 366-4141 or to call the Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta tip line at (404) 577-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online .
