2 suspects arrested after string of armed robberies in Gresham

GRESHAM, Ore. (KPTV) - Two suspects were arrested after a string of overnight armed robberies in a Gresham apartment complex on Sunday, according to Gresham Police.

The first robbery happened on Sunday at about 10:50 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian robbery at gunpoint at an apartment complex on Southeast Stark Street in Gresham. The victim said they were approached by a group of four subjects, one with a handgun. The suspects reportedly stole the victim’s keys, jewelry, and a specific brand hoodie before fleeing on foot, according to Gresham Police.

Police attempted to track down the suspect, but an unrelated shooting diverted resources away from the incident.

The second robbery happened about two hours later at about 12:50 a.m. A second robbery was reported at the same apartment complex. A male ran to a nearby service station and reported that he had been lured to the apartments by two women via Instagram, and was then ambushed by two armed men who stole his cellphone and hoodie. The witnesses noticed that one of the suspects was wearing a distinctive brand hoodie that was reportedly taken in the first robbery.

After the second robbery, officers saw two men walking near the basketball courts within the apartment complex just after 3 a.m. One of them was wearing the distinctive hoodie that matched the stolen one from the first robbery.

When officers tried to speak to the suspects, both of them ran. One was quickly caught and found to be wearing the stolen sweatshirt. Officers were able to track down the other suspect, who was hiding in a spot in the neighborhood just south of the apartment complex.

18-year-old Jeremiah White was put in jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery and other related charges. A 17-year-old boy was lodged in a juvenile detention center on similar charges.
