Hooters Abruptly Closes Over 30 Locations After Bankruptcy

In late March, Hooters filed for bankruptcy but the iconic restaurant chain did not indicate that restaurants would close as a result of the filing.

"Hooters is taking action to strengthen our business to better serve you, our valued customer, over the long term. As an important step forward, on March 31, 2025, we announced that we entered into an agreement with near unanimous support from our key stakeholders to position Hooters for stability and growth and ensure we can further invest in our locations, offerings, and the customer experience" the company wrote on its website .

To combat questions about the company going out of business, Hooters offered the following:

"Hooters is here to stay, and with a stronger financial foundation and streamlined operations on the other side of this process, we will be well-positioned to continue delivering the guest-obsessed hospitality experience and delicious food our valued customers and communities have come to expect well into the future."

Just three months later, Hooters reportedly closed over 30 locations across 12 different states, according to a report from the USA Today , which revealed the locations of some of the closed restaurants:

  • Tuscaloosa, AL
  • Sanford, FL
  • Orlando, FL
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Kissimmee, FL
  • Melbourne, FL
  • Tallahassee, FL
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Douglasville, GA
  • Gwinnett, GA
  • Valdosta, GA
  • Evansville, IN
  • Greenwood, IN
  • Lafayette, IN
  • Rockford, IL
  • Newport, KY
  • Detroit, MI

  • Columbia, SC
  • Rock Hill, SC
  • Murfreesboro, TN
  • Memphis, TN

In addition, the Madison, WI location is reportedly no longer available on the Hooters website and a listed phone number rings without answer. Meanwhile, the Fort Smith, AR restaurant was scrubbed from the website.

"Hooters will be well-positioned to continue our iconic legacy under a pure franchise business model," the company said in a statement to the USA Today . "We are committed to supporting our impacted team members throughout this process and are incredibly grateful to our valued customers for their loyalty and dedication to the Hooters brand."
