Bike safety concerns spark debate
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Recent and tragic incidents of bicycle-related crashes is igniting conversation about whether bikes should be on the roadway. But some are advocating for people to slow down and pay close attention, especially during the summer months Everyone has an opinion on whether or not bikes should be allowed on the road, but what’s not up for debate is the fact that bikes can legally be on public roads. At Wersell’s Bike and Ski Shop in Toledo, it’s one of their busiest times of the year. “People are trying to get healthier, which is a good thing,” Jill Wersell, the owner, said. Whether it’s for a hobby, exercise or getting to and from work, “a lot of people use it as their main mode of transportation,” Wersell said.
