Video shows frantic moments when Forest Park shooting sent people running at nearby soccer field

A terrifying moment unfolded Tuesday night when gunfire broke out near a stadium and not far from a soccer field in Forest Park. Two people were injured. The moments after the gunshots were fired were captured on video. People could be heard screaming as they ran for safety. Forest Park Chief of Police Brandon Criss said the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 600 block of South Avenue. This is near Park Avenue. On one side of the road sits Kiwanis Stadium, where Criss said a high school graduation was taking place. And on the other side of the street is a field where a mom said children were playing soccer. In the video she shared with 11Alive, she said she was watching her child play soccer when, all of a sudden, gunshots were heard nearby. Parents rushed to the field to grab their children. Organizers call for end to gun violence after string of deadly shootings over the weekend in SA

It was a deadly and violent weekend in San Antonio. According to our reporting on Saturday and Sunday, six people were killed in different shootings across the city. Executive Director of Big Mama's Safe House Rose Williams is calling for an end to the violence. She's also wanting other agencies to step up to help and bring change. Williams said this weekend's violence brings a lot of emotions. "I am hurt," she said. "We are confused, it doesn't make sense what is going on." Williams is trying to make sense of the senselessness. "What if it was your daughter, or your son, your mom or dad," she said. "It is the human spirit, the human race, it affects all of us." Big Mama's Safe House empowers communities and helps those impacted by gun violence. They also focus on the youth. "We bring in a youth we try to assist," she said. "The next night they are killed. It is very upsetting....
