FG orders probe of alleged neglect of accident victims at FMC Abuja

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako has directed a full investigation into the alleged neglect of accident victims at the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Jabi, Abuja. In a video that trended on social media at the weekend, someone was heard lamenting that he rushed some accidents victims he saw at the road to the facility but that the staff were slow in attending to them. The video showed arguments between the good Samaritan and some staff of the hospital one of whom talked about the unavailability of gloves. El-Obeid, June 14, 2025 (SUNA) - The indiscriminate shelling carried out by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on Friday resulted in the death of (6) members of one family and the injury of three others. The duty officer at the Eid Al-Adha's Emergency Chamber, at the Ministry of Health and Social Development in North Kordofan State, Mohammed Hussein Zariba, confirmed that the unfortunate events that took place in El-Obeid on Friday morning resulted in the death of (6) members of one family and the injury of (3) others. Zariba explained that the health situation in the state is stable, noting that health institutions continue to perform their duties efficiently. Poor emergency services dog Abuja FMC

Poor response to emergency cases and medical negligence have continued to bedevil the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, investigations have shown. Findings reveal that while the hospital has recorded achievements in infrastructural expansion and adoption of new medical procedures, it has however faced persistent cases of patients and their caregivers lamenting medical negligence and slow response to people in need of emergency services. Some residents have lamented being turned away at the emergency unit of the hospital when their relatives were in dire need of care to save their lives. They alleged that the delay or no response at all has sometimes led to loss of lives as well worsened health outcomes for those affected. However, the management of the hospital has countered all allegations leveled against the medical centre, stressing that it is not usual for such a hospital that is usually filled to capacity most of the time to have one or two patients...

Police officer grabs car with his hands to keep it from rolling down embankment

A Tukwila police officer grabbed the side of a car with his hands before it could roll down an embankment with people inside, according to the Tukwila Police Department (TPD). TPD says that officers arrived on the scene in the Skyway area of Tukwila at 49th Avenue South, where a car had veered off the roadway. An officer noticed the car had tipped over and was close to rolling down an embankment with the driver and passengers inside. According to Tukwila police, the officer grabbed the car with his hands to help counter the weight until two other officers arrived to assist. Puget Sound Fire got the driver and passengers out of the car and moved the vehicle to keep it from rolling down the embankment.
